Medindi's Engaged Couple

Martina and Thomas got engaged while on holiday here in Cape Town while staying with us at Medindi Manor. A first for the Manor and what a great celebration it was for us to share this special moment with two fantastic guests. Martina met Thomas in Vienna, Austria while she was studying in the same department that Thomas was working in. It was  a - "love at first sight"- moment! Martina is still staying in Vienna with Thomas and continuing her Doctorate in Neurology. Medindi Manor wishes Martina and Thomas all the best for the life together!

*****
Martina and Thomas stayed in room 204, the Honeymoon suite. If you wish to stay in our honeymoon suite, please contact us on 021 686 3563 for more information.

Spring has Sprung!!

Here at Medindi, Spring is in the air and we want you to see it! If the pictures are not enough you are welcome to come and see for your self..

With Kyle being back from the UK, Kudzi and Blessings will be working very hard with Kyle to make sure our garden is tip top for the spring to come. After all the rain fall we've been having this past few months, the weeds are taking chances and the guys will have to stop them fast.

Kyle is already making the garden more colorful with new pretty flowers that he is adding to the bedding's. For more pictures of the newbies you will have to stay tuned!

Enjoy the pictures of our beautiful garden...

Medindi's Recommended Restaurants

I have had the pleasure of dining at two restaurants in the last two weeks which I think our guests would enjo!

The first restaurant is called Don Pedro's. Situated in roodebloem rd Woodstock, is this Victorian-60's feel, petite restaurant. Everything about this restaurant was amazing. The decor - hanging drape curtains, old wooden furniture and great pictures from the past. A big piano standing in the middle of the room and a bar for those popping in just for a drink. The food was to-die-for, tasy, delicious and well presented. The ladies working at Don Pedro's are so friendly and always happy to tell you The Story. Affordable evening out for two with a tasty meal and great entertainment. Be sure to try this place out, for more information or bookings go to www.donpedros.co.za

The second restaurant is called Jamaica Me Crazy! The complete Jamaica atmosphere, even the waitors are jamaican! This restaurant also in roodebloem st, Woodstock is a fun place to visit if you are looking for some cocktails or hanging out with friends around a log fire for the cold winter months coming. A very lively restaurant and bar with a big selection of yummy food. The staff is friendly and very helpfull. Look out for their Happy Hours between 5 and 7pm and daily specials! If you want more information or want to book a table go to www.jamaicamecrazy.co.za

La Mer Spa Day at Medindi Manor!

The La Mer Spa day at Medindi Manor was a success!

The ladies from La Mer were pampering their guests in our rooms, with background music and a fire to help create a peaceful mood. Each guest was welcomed with a beautiful smile and showed up to the rooms where the La Mer ladies did a facial and a upper body massage for about 45min. After pampering, each guest received a small gift bag and had a over view of all the products available (to purchase as well) with a coffee & tea in Medindi's dinning room to finish the pampering off.

If you you would like more information on either product or pamepering, please call them on 021 683 5657.

We have enjoyed being the host for La Mer's Spa day and hope to have them with us again soon. Thank you La Mer for choosing Medindi!

Yasuo Shinozaki @ Medindi Manor

We are honoured to have Yasuo Shinozaki staying at Medindi Manor in January and February. Yasuo lives in London with his beautiful wife and children. We enjoy having Yasuo stay with us and enjoy listening to so many interesting stories and things happening behind the scenes of a conductor and the concerts. If you want to know more about Yasuo and his concerts, you can visit his website www.yasuoshinozaki.com.

He will be conducting a few more times with other famous musicians. His next performance will be on the 9th of February at City Hall 20h00, to book tickets go to www.cpo.org.za.

Some questions I asked Yasuo:

1. What do you like most about being a conductor?
Firstly, I love the orchestra sound and I’m happy to make music with the orchestra musician. This is a big pleasure and exciting for me to create something with many people. And it’s always memorable and impressive for me to meet many countries’ people.

2. Is there any thing you don't like of being a conductor?
I tried to find it but I could not find anything. Oh, I found one thing. I hate an airplane. It’s just boring for me to stay on the aircraft for a long time.

3. How many times have you been to South Africa, and how many of those times was it to Cape Town?
I’m coming to SA about every half year and staying two or three weeks each. This is my third visiting to Cape Town. I’ve been in Johannesburg four times and Durban five times. SA is a wonderful country because of nature and good people!!

4. How many hours to put in everyday for training?
The conductor can not practice at home. Can you imagine that the conductor is practice at the front of mirror ?? Strange, isn’t it ? But I’m studying the score (music note for conductor) every morning and often continue it in the afternoon at home. If I have a rehearsal, I study the score in the early morning. This is not too easy since I have to stand at the front of 80-100 professional musicians without any practice.

5. Why do you keep coming back to Medindi Manor? "his answer was...

Come and see our Natural Wonder!

TABLE MOUNTAIN has made all South Africans very proud, when recently it was awarded one of the Top7 Natural Wonders of the World.

This flat-topped mountain in the heart of Cape Town has so much to offer to the tourist and locals. From the cable car taking you up to the top, showing you breathe taking views and priceless memories to hiking up the steep mountain trails and walking through the unique fauna and flora it has to show.

The Cable car is a great and easy way to go to the top, going up in a car that turns 360 degrees so one can see from every angle. On top of the mountain there is a restaurant where you can grab a bite to eat or just freshen up. Well paved paths lead you on a tour all around the top where you can see up close all the unique and endangered Cape fynbos, growing wild. Animals common on the mountain are "dassies" a rock hyrax and also some porcupines, mongooses, snakes and tortoises.

Hiking on the mountain is a lot fun for those feeling energetic. Some trails are fairly easy and there are some tough trails for the more experienced hiker. The trails are well laid out and easy to read and follow. Seeing all the beautiful plants and rock formations up close and feeling that satisfaction after reaching the top is priceless.

When faceing the mountain from the waterfront's side you will see Devil's peak on the left and Loins head together with signal hill on the right. You will be in for a treat when reading about the stories on Wikipedia or other sites of how these mountains got their names.

If you haven’t been to see Table Mountain or experienced what the mountain has to offer, you are missing out! So get traveling, get down to Cape Town and come and see this Natural Wonder for yourself.
